New Year’s Resolutions. We know they can be pretty polarizing. Some of you are all about them, and some of you don’t believe in them at all. Wherever you stand on this spectrum, it's difficult to ignore that undeniable feeling of “New Year, New Me” when January comes around. Is it possible? Can we make resolutions and keep them? Is there a point? Will you feel inspired or just frustrated/disappointed?
We’re here to help you feel inspired!
Set a Goal
There is power in intention. We’re not going to go New Age on you or tell to you create inspiration boards or have a power word or that the universe will grant you everything you consciously wish for. However, if you don’t have a plan of attack or any organized thoughts about the changes you’d like to make in your life, how will you ever get started?
We suggest you make a list, narrow down some favorites, and feel out what is do-able. Smaller goals will be easier to achieve, and you'll be less likely to give up on them. You don’t have to put a lot of pressure on yourself or make a big deal out about it, but a soft plan is a start in the right direction.
Make It Fun!
The #1 way to keep your resolutions is to make the journey fun. If the road is miserable, you’re not going to drive on it. If it’s lovely and lighthearted and you actually enjoy it, you’ll keep at it. Part of this is going to be a shift in your perspective. This is by no means easy, but if you can put in the mental work, it will be well worth it. Apparently it takes as much energy to have negative thoughts as it does to have positive ones, so let’s all try to shift to positivity together, whatever our goals and intentions are.
Another part of enjoying the journey is making sure it’s aesthetically pleasing. While this might sound superficial, it actually helps! Feeling beautiful and surrounding yourself in beauty is just going to make you feel good, period. This is where we come in.
Find the Right Tools
Do you have the right tools to achieve your goals? It’s perfectly okay to seek help from someone else to assist you along the way, and it’s also a great time to get some fresh, new tools to get where you need to go. For instance, if you intend to exercise more, maybe a new yoga mat or new tennis shoes will give you a little push to work out more regularly. If you want to start journaling, a fancy new pen and a beautiful journal might entice you to write before you go to bed at night.
We picked 4 popular goals for 2019 and collected the tools we can give you to stay in good spirits and in style on your new adventures.
