In this installment of our Behind the Designs series, where we spotlight the individuals that make up our tiny but mighty team (and put a face to the designs you love!), we absolutely had to introduce you to one of the awesome powerhouses behind it all - our amazing President and Creative Director, Katie Blanchard!
Katie began her career in 1995, as a newly minted graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fiber Arts degree.
She eagerly took a position as textile designer at Mulberry, a leading manufacturer of designer neckwear for men, where she quickly accelerated to VP of Design. Fun Fact, Katie Smith, Founder of rockflowerpaper, owned Mulberry and when opening rockflowerpaper immediately called on Katie Blanchard to assist in the execution of this new business venture. The rest is rockflowerpaper ‘Her-Story.”
Katie is a multi-faceted creative superstar. Her flair for vibrant colors and her eye for detail have made her an integral part of rockflowerpaper's designs and products since the beginning. She loves to design and create beautiful, unique pieces that are sure to please. Thanks to her leadership, rockflowerpaper has become known for its striking textiles, home decor and fashion accessories.
Katie is also passionate about sustainability and the environment, which is why she places heavy emphasis on using eco-friendly materials in rockflowerpaper’s production processes. She believes that every purchase should be an informed one - one that takes the planet into account. When it comes to design, she encourages her team to think outside of the box. She is constantly pushing the boundaries, experimenting with new materials and techniques to create pieces that will stand out in any home or wardrobe.
Katie is a talented painter, textile designer, avid gardener, and has been the creative force behind rockflowerpaper since our founding in 2010.
She is a true inspiration and we can't thank her enough for her dedication and hard work! We are proud to have such an amazing leader at rockflowerpaper and look forward to what she has in store for us next! Thank you Katie for everything you do!
